Greater Cleveland Walking/Hiking Trails

Cleveland Metroparks offer an astounding variety of trails, for everyone from strollers to avid hikers. Our 19,000+ acres of parks circling Cleveland are, in fact, dubbed “The Emerald Necklace.” Each of the 14 parks, called “reservations,” offers something different, from gorges to lakes to old-growth forests. 216.351.6300,

Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). This treasure is the third-most-visited national park in the United States. The 33,000-acre park offers 125 miles of hiking trails ranging from the nearly level to the demanding, with wonderful views over the Cuyahoga Valley to the hills beyond.

The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail follows the historic route of the Ohio & Erie Canal, built between 1825-1832 to complete a water route between the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico. You can follow history, walking or biking along the same path that mules used to tow the canal boats! There are 10 trailheads providing parking and access to the trail. Want to rent a bike? Call 800.201.7433.
