Holden Arboretum, on Sperry Road in Mentor, is a spectacular 3,400-acre preserve of horticultural collections, display gardens, natural woodlands, ponds, fields and ravines. Graded trails offer everything from a short sensory trail to trails through deep woods. Info: 440.946.4400, holdenarb.org.

Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is the former home of F.A. Seiberling (founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.) and his family. You'll find 70 acres of artfully landscaped gardens and grounds, a conservatory and seasonal exhibits. The Estate also features The Carriage House Shop and Molly's Café serving delectable salads sandwiches and desserts from the Mustard Seed Market & Café.

Cleveland Botanical Garden is right in the heart of Cleveland’s University Circle. You’ll love Hershey Children’s Garden, the Japanese garden, rose garden, herb garden, woodland garden (with boardwalk for accessibility) and perennial garden.  There’s also the Glasshouse, featuring the worlds of Madagascar and Costa Rica. Schoepfle Garden, part of Lorain County Metro Parks, is just off SR 112 on Market St. in Birmingham. It’s 70 acres of paradise, with botanical gardens and natural woodland.
